Tea Party Boise tries to boost slow ticket sales for 9/11, LDS conspiracy theorists | Voices.IdahoStatesman.com

Speakers promoting controversial conspiracy theories may be hurting ticket sales, according to Tea Party Boise, which is making a late push to improve attendance at an event this weekend.

Steven Jones, a physicist who founded Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, will keynote "Awake and Arise America" set for Northwest Nazarene University's Brandt Center Friday and Saturday in Nampa.

Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice says government and industry insiders had "foreknowledge of the time, place, and nature of the attack of September 11, 2001." The group questions whether airplanes could have destroyed the Twin Towers and suggests a cover up.

Wasn't it Scientific American magazine that had a rather definitive story about precisely how the airplanes could bring down the towers?

Americans have the right to believe silly, frivolous, even utterly wrong things - and the 9/11 conspiracy theories are pretty much all silly, frivolous, and even utterly wrong things.

However, no competent physicist can legitimately question whether the planes COULD have brought down the towers. It is an entirely plausible and solidly scientific happening (not the only possible result of planes hitting ... but an entirely plausible result).
