George Conway, Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, John Weaver form anti-Trump Super PAC – HotAir

Over these next 11 months, our efforts will be dedicated to defeating President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box and to elect those patriots who will hold the line. We do not undertake this task lightly, nor from ideological preference. We have been, and remain, broadly conservative (or classically liberal) in our politics and outlooks. Our many policy differences with national Democrats remain, but our shared fidelity to the Constitution dictates a common effort.

I think I met Steve Schmidt years and years ago in DC. He was working for Bush the Elder when he was Reagan (may peace be upon him)'s VP. I was trying to get a sense of what a Bush presidency might be like. I forget what he said but I ended up thinking I would not be comfortable in a Bush administration. I was also impressed that Schmidt had a big Mercedes and a passel of kids. But it could have been some other guy. Aging brain, etc.

Unlike political consultants, the ichneumon wasp doesn't try to justify its behavior as public spirited.

I have never understood the knock that Trump is not "faithful to the Constitution." It strikes me as simply an epithet used by those who can't stand his style to create the appearance of a substantive concern. In practice, Trump seems to adhere to Article 2 limits better than his more recent predecessors.
