Liberal female politicians are very upset about how 'Game of Thrones' ended - Hot Air

2020 presidential candidates Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), both fans of Daenerys Targaryen—also known as “Khaleesi” and the “Mother of Dragons”—were bitter about her rapid descent in the show’s final season, where she became a mass murderer of innocents and was eventually killed by her nephew-boyfriend Jon Snow. However, the foundation for the character’s dark arc was laid for years in the books and preceding seasons of the HBO series.

It might be more useful for them to mull over the case of Theresa May - promoted for years, in spite of routinely doing a lousy job, until eventually she ended up as our most dismal prime minister since God knows when. I imagine it's all a result of the pressure to appoint more women.

You'll remember that Thatcher got to the top when that pressure was very modest, probably a smaller effect that prejudice against women was at the time.

Still, "most dismal" doesn't equal worst. That was Toni Blair, who'd be none the worse of a hanging.
