The Catholic Church in 2018: Sheep without shepherds - Hot Air

Seventeen years later, with neither the American bishops nor Pope Francis able to muster an adequate response to the revelation that a famous cardinal was a predator whose sins were known even as he rose, it’s clear that this was wrong. The Church has done much better since 2001 in the most basic task of keeping children safe. But in everything else connected to the scandal there is little progress because Catholicism’s leaders cannot agree on what progress means.

But seriously, my fellow sheep, we'll be better off with a new hierarchy.

String 'em up, Mr Smith.

But with whom will you replace them? Every time you take a young man and teach him about theology you've a fair chance of converting him to atheism. Your only realistic chance of getting enough people to fill the posts is to recruit married men, and .... women!!!! I realise that such a policy would bear a scandalous resemblance to recruiting the deacons and deaconesses of the early church, but wot the hell, Archie?
