Keillor fired by MPR over improper behavior - StarTribune.com
Officials at MPR said they would not speak beyond a statement that said officials were notified last month of the allegations, “which relate to Mr. Keillor’s conduct while he was responsible for the production of ‘A Prairie Home Companion.’ ”
MPR said it will:
• Change the name of “Prairie Home,” now hosted by Chris Thile.
• End distribution and broadcast of “Writer’s Almanac” and rebroadcasts of old Keillor-hosted “Prairie Home” shows.
• Separate itself from the Pretty Good Goods online catalog, which sells Keillor merchandise, and the PrairieHome.org website.
“I’m in shock,” Thile said on Twitter. “I know nothing beyond what’s contained in the MPR statement but I trust that the proper steps are being taken.”
O. M. G. Say it ain't so, Garrison. Ok, he did say it ain't so. It was a misinterpretation. I hope so. This makes me think there might be a little worm wriggling in the rottenness at the heart of Lake Woebegone. I know, Garrison is a total lib, but PHC is an institution in our home. I hope LWJ doesn't find out. I suppose I'll have to tell her. But it sounds like GK is innocent! Innocent, I tell you! MPR is probably overreacting in the throes of moral panic. Calm down, sheeple!

"Garrison is a total lib": the biters bit. So celebrate! Except: can it be right to fire people over a mere allegation, especially an allegation of some occurrence that is capable of bearing a less damaging interpretation? Is this becoming a way to purge older men from employment without having to honour contractual rights to severance pay and other goodies?
Further, it's not as if these elderly libs are going to be replaced by sane middle-aged conservatives, is it?
