It’s Time to Legalize Polygamy - Fredrik deBoer - POLITICO Magazine

The question presents itself: Where does the next advance come? The answer is going to make nearly everyone uncomfortable: Now that we’ve defined that love and devotion and family isn’t driven by gender alone, why should it be limited to just two individuals? The most natural advance next for marriage lies in legalized polygamy—yet many of the same people who pressed for marriage equality for gay couples oppose it.

O heck, it's past time! Not sure LWJ would go for it though. I certainly don't like the idea of sharing her, and I suppose that would be part of the deal. Also, good Lord, think of the expense.

I don't think there's anything morally wrong with polygamy. However, in practice it might mean that a lot of women would rather be the fourth wife of some rich/hot dude while the ordinary guys those women would otherwise marry get shut out of marriage and family. Or maybe it would make no difference since rich/hot dudes can already get as many women as they want without marrying them. Who knows. We may just have to pass that law to find out what its destructive second-order effects are.
