Eagles beat obscurely named team

My ten year old's soccer team played a team named "the golden men" today, their name apparently a reference to the first men in Roman and Greek mythology. It was a close game, a real nail biter, but the prosaically named Eagles won by one goal in the end.  I'm not saying I dislike Golden Men, but it is a peculiar name.  Who ever heard of naming a socer team after something in Hesiod?
