The Ascent of Man - By Mark Steyn - The Corner - National Review Online

Re that New York Times notice regretting its “mischaracterization” of “the Christian holiday of Easter”, Michael Walsh is right to point out that the “correction” is equally idiotic. As Michael says, what does “resurrection into heaven” even mean? How could any expensively credentialed J-school grad type those words?

I didn't hear of the NYT correction until it was all over the blogosphere. But I was what -- appalled, chagrined, not surprised, when I saw that the Easter Sunday NYT had no reference to the holiday (that I saw; I didn't read the whole thing) except a magazine piece by some crazy ex-nun about how she still longed for her "ex", i.e. Jesus, but not really (it was a little hard to understand). What can one say. It's the NYT. --ts

Well of course the NYT doesn't have onyone on staff who can write competently about the sort of elementary, basic, fundamental Christian stuff that 2nd graders at a typical Midwestern Jesus Camp would know.

Now, the whole staff could probably write at great length about how realistically Lena Dunham used some esteric sex toy on the last episode of HBO's "Girls" show.
