Serial killer update
Tom Smith

I really hate serial killers.  I don't like novels and movies that glamorize them, though I admit to reading Tom Harris's novels with the usual horrified fascination.  As I know I have said before on this blog, I interviewed a serial killer once, and he was a big, hulking, disgusting thug of a man who probably should have been executed rather than incarcerated in a maximum security mental hospital. They are less like Hannibal Lecture and more like a sort of horribly intelligent and evil ape. I hope they catch this guy in Long Island.

This documentary is very good.

When I was a fresher one of my classmates was rather obviously a bit mad. I saw little of him later though I knew that he graduated in biochemistry.

Then 30 years later I saw him on the national News; he'd been found guilty of attempted murder - of his wife, by poisoning her breakfast. So he was nearly the much joked about cereal killer.

Any chance that we've heard of your interview subject?

I can't remember his name. I think his nom de guerre was The Connecticut Valley Strangler. He resided at the Whiting Forensic Institute which now goes by a similar but somewhat more euphemistic name. He killed 6 I think women, mostly or all prostitutes, by strangling them with their bras.

He was a caution.

I think serial killers should be hanged only. 98% of the serial killers would not leave their habit of killing innocent people for nothing or for money. There is only 1 punishment for them "Kill them". This is the only way to have a safe country. Look at KSA, they simply hang the killer. See the crime rate you will get it.
