No Nhus
Maimon Schwarzschild

When I was a kid in the mid-1960s, I laughed immoderately when Ramparts magazine - the slick voice of the New Left - had a jeering piece about Madame Nhu and her family, deposed by a coup in South Vietnam, entitled "No Nhus is Good News".  (Madame Nhu's brother-in-law, President Diem, was murdered in the coup.  The coup was covertly backed by the United States.)  It turns out that Madame Nhu lived on until this week.

Here is Tim Worstall with an excerpt from the Guardian obit for la Nhu.  But read the whole Guardian obit.  The dragon lady, and her life story, rate high on the bizarre meter.
