Anticipatory whining
Tom Smith

With the Dem's control of Congress looking shaking, it's time to start complaining about how unfair it is going to be.  Herr Doktor Professor Krugman gets in some preemptory whining.

His description of how Republicans went after the Clintons is interesting, but he leaves something out.  I can't quite put my finger on it though.  Wasn't there some Clinton scandal beyond the Vince Foster thing and the White House Christmas card list?  Was was that?  Something about berets and knee pads or something?  It's on the tip of my tongue.  Darn I hate it when I can't bring something like that to mind. State policemen, trailer parks, depends on what "is" means.  Is this ringing any bells?  Well, I suppose if Krugman doesn't mention it, it can't be that important.  I remember thinking Ken Starr was a very bad man, with no respect for privacy at all and that everybody does it.  What it was everybody does though, eludes me entirely.

Keep it off the tip of your tongue. That was someone else's rice bowl.

Perhaps he didn't mention that one thing because he was only listing the super ridiculous and outrageous wastes of time by congress and not merely the regular ones.

It was all about sex. Everyone does it. Victimless crimes. Wasting the taxpayers' money on political witchhunts.

Billy Dale, Kathleen Willey, Linda Tripp and Juanita Broaderick were unavailable for comment.

Rush Limbaugh called Effendi Obama an Imam? There's no call for that.

Krugman says, "Let’s turn the floor over to Rush Limbaugh: “Imam Hussein Obama,” he recently declared, is “probably the best anti-American president we’ve ever had.”

Maybe I misperceive Rush, but when I listen to him I think that much of what he says is intended jokingly or, at least, intended as a type of "prank" intended to "jerk the chains" of liberals. I construe the above statement attributed to Rush as an example of his satire, intended to make fun of liberals who place O'bama on a pedestal. If he delivered the remark on television, I suspect that one might see him wink as he delivered it.

Many liberals seem to be entirely tone deaf to Rush's humor. Then they seem to think everyone who listens to Rush takes every statement he makes as the gospel truth. So they think Rush's listeners take his joking to be literally true and that shows what mindless idiots they are.

Yeah, they totally don't get Rush.

Re. Rush's humor:

Wait, so Manhattanite liberal readers (and writers), many of whom show off their brilliance by frequently employing irony in their own writing, don't get Rush's irony?

I find that rather, well, ironic.
