I just wanted to give people an update on the University of San Diego's Center for the Study of Constitutional Originalism. The Center, which includes 7 faculty members at USD who do work on originalism, has had a number of events since it began with an Inaugural Lecture by Justice Scalia. One excellent event was a conference on Economic Liberties, Property Rights, and the Original Meaning of the Constitution, in memory of our late colleague, Bernie Siegan. Richard Epstein gave the Keynote address, which can be viewed here. More recently, Dean Robert Bennett gave a talk criticizing originalism, which can also be viewed here. And one of our best events was a debate between Mike Ramsey and John Yoo on the scope of the President's War Powers under the original meaning.
