Larry Craig backstory
Tom Smith

Here's a detailed story from the Idaho Statesman (Boise's fairly liberal newspaper) on Larry Craig and the allegations against him, going back quite a few years.

Craig probably is bisexual or gay; however, some of the allegations that were investigated by the Statesman are pretty skinny. The REI allegation - give me strength! The U of I rumors - come on! His style of speaking - WTF!

In any event, Craig did plead guilty and it sure sounds like something fishy was going to happen in the airport. I bet if he went to trial, he'd be found not guilty (although he'd be tarnish, it wouldn't be the huge problem it is now.)

"Craig also took piano lessons in high school and was in the high school choir."

Yes, nothing quite screams out 'Homo!' as piano lessons and high school choir. As pat rightly notes, WTF!?

Rumor has it that he owns more than 5 pairs of shoes. Now that would be conclusive!

oh no, i took piano lessons in high school. and also sang in choirs, even acapella in college, (which ironically is a great babe magnet).

i'd better tell my wife i'm not who we think i am! and all those other musical guys with the hot wives (Mick Jagger, Gene Simmons, Rick Ocasek, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, Axl Rose, Tommy Lee, Richie Sambora, Seal, Justin Timberlake, Enrique Iglesias, 50 Cent, just to name a few), well they are all not who we think they are either.

Isn't your family involved in Idaho politics/judicial system? Any inside dope?

I just listened to the police tape on CNN. It reaffirms my suspicion that he didn't do anything wrong. The officer is in there for hours waiting for someone to hit on him, using certain criteria, and then Craig comes in...waits for a stall, the one next to the officer opens up. The officer acknowledges that he moved his foot close to the edge of his own stall. Craig says he takes a "wide stance" so his pants don't slide down. This makes total sense! I totally thought I was the only guy who did that-keep my slacks off of the nasty floor. Does that mean I'm gay?

I can't vouch for the officer's credibility, but having read quite a few police reports of men soliciting acts in restrooms, I think the Senator is toast on this. I think he would have been found guilty at a trial. His hand movement was the solicitation. And like any straight man lets his foot accidentally touch another man's foot on the other side of a stall no matter how wide they are. Are you kidding me?

The Senator sure wasn't giving good denials. But they really needed to ask he ruse question. "So, if the video camera on our side of the stall showed the gold ring on your ring finger would your story still be that you picked up paper with your right hand?"
