Trudie on Long Distance Relationships

I have always thought that this was one of Tyler Cowan's most interesting posts, and that is saying something.  It applies two different economic principles in a nonobvious way to long distance relationships.  Sure, we can all apply diminishing marginal utility to various aspects of romantic relationships, but the Archian and Allen Theorem?

Communication, trust, honesty and passion will strengthen your relationship whilst you’re apart but you really have to believe in each other and your relationship for it to succeed…. although long distance relationships can be difficult, they can work and do work for many couples if both parties put in the effort.
