Hospitals Pulling the Plug Against Families' Wishes | RealClearPolitics

Cost is why many hospitals pull the plug, says Savulescu. They should be honest about it. Instead, hospitals stick to their phony argument about protecting the child's "best interests."

"hospitals stick to their phony argument ...": it may well be phony in the US. In England and Wales it's been part of the law since the 17th century that the courts may interfere between parents and child to protect the child's interest.

If you want to declare such interference as contrary to (US) law, then how can you justify regulating abortion? That's surely interfering in the interest of the (unborn) child and against the interest of the mother. If someone is against such interference he ought to be a keen protector of sucking the baby's brain out if that suits the mother.
