UA Profs Bash Anti-Free Speech Proposal | The Daily Caller

University of Arkansas is receiving heated criticism for a policy proposal that professors claim could make it possible to fire professors for not being “cooperative” or simply being conservative.

Professors allege that the university is using non-academic attorneys to draft the changes and that there is evidence suggesting that the school is trying to move swiftly to implement the changes before university faculty can sufficiently challenge them, according to correspondence obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

This could be the canary in the coal mine, proverbially speaking. Except in this case you know darn well everything is going to hell whether your bird dies or not. You can see it. You don't need any damn canary. You know what I mean.

"the canary in the coal mine": just the other day I saw a countryman of yours misquote that as "canary in the ore mine", not as some sort of joking reference to ore mines, but simply as a display of extraordinary ignorance. Perhaps he was a "public intellectual".
