Virginia Same-Sex Marriage Ruling Confuses Declaration of Independence with Constitution

"Our Constitution declares that 'all men' are created equal. Surely this means all of us," Judge Allen wrote on the first page of her opinion.

Well, give her credit. She had the right century. And NPR said the opinion was really moving, or something.

And yet it's so easy to tell them apart. The D of I is a mendacious little advertising flyer, while the C is an intellectually serious and rather impressive attempt to design a political system. One invites derision, the other considerable respect.
