Ruth Bader Ginsburg should do all liberals a favor and retire now | Michael Cohen | Comment is free | theguardian.com

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one of the more important liberal litigators and jurists of her generation. She has been trailblazer on the issue of women's legal rights and a powerful voice for progressive causes as a justice on the highest US court in the land.

And she must retire. Right now. While we're at it, Stephen Breyer should retire too.

She is or was at least a very smart lady. Why she has not retired I have no idea. Her brilliant husband died a few years back so I suppose she doesn't have anything better to do. The other thing is, most of the time the Justices don't write their own opinions. Scalia, J., does, but I'm not sure who else does. This rather extends their road life. If you took away their clerks, a lot of Justices wouldn't stay in their jobs. A lot of people would not take them. Not that I would do that, of course (get rid of clerks). The Republic would fall.

"She has been trailblazer": at first I read that as "tribalizer". Which is perhaps true too.
