Change we can believe in, to the tune of $150 million Tom Smith

That's just swell.  Big Pharma, as part of its deal with State Obama, has agreed to pony up to $150 million (a huge amount in the political advertizing biz) to convince voters that ObamaCare is just the remedy they need.  Why exactly big drug companies should be willing pay this much for ObamaCare I don't know, but I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I did.  Probably there will be huge government subsidies so more people can buy more meds.  In the meantime, anyone who thinks Obama is not just another corporate tool should go home and pray for enlightenment.  The Democrats just have different corporations than the Republicans.  Though to be fair, since the Democrats have more lawyers, they have partnerships too.  How this deal or whatever it is fits in, I'm not sure.  I am pretty sure the $150 million is some sort of quid pro quo for the deal, however.   One is irresistably reminded of the old saw that the honest politician is one who once bought, stays bought.  Our young president seems to be failing that test.  Some behaviorists claim that with a big enough bag of kitty treats they can teach a cat to go fetch your slippers and the paper from the driveway.  We'll see if the same applies to advertizing and the American public.  If we are willing to go along with ObamaCare because some nice lady on TV tells us it will be OK, maybe we deserve to be euthanized.  Obama may not know it, but he might be the cutting edge of Social Darwinism.  But this is more irony than even I am happy with.

Poor Frank Rich's faith is wavering.  Maybe if he lives long enough, and loses his faith in left-liberal cant, he could end up a libertarian.  You can tell hear fears Obama is not a socialist but a corporatist, which he is, since a corporatist is just an opportunistic sort of socialist.  It's like the difference of being operated on by an idealistic, incompetent surgeon, or a cyncial, incompetent surgeon.  Which is worse your heirs can contemplate as they wonder why you croaked.  

THIS seems to be deal.  Nice work if you can get it.

Another great post. Your comment that if the people are willing to go along with ObamaCare because some lady on TV tells them it will be ok reminds me of the aphorism that the people deserve the kind of government they get. It's just too bad the rest of us, a substantial minority of the electorate that did not vote for this guy, will have to suffer if the country's healthcare system is destroyed.
