Kobach, who is a law professor at the University of Missouri-Kanasa City Law School, is profiled in the New York Times with a focus on his activities in support of laws against illegal aliens.
I don't know much about Kobach's immigration work, but I have relied on two of his articles in other areas: One involving regulatory takings in the early Republic (Utah Law Review) and the other involving the constitutional amendments (Yale Law Journal). Both of those articles are first rate and greatly influenced my thinking.
Update: I forget to put in the links. The regulatory taking paper, Originalism and Regulatory Takings: Why the Fifth Amendment May Not Protect Against Regulatory Takings, But the Fourteenth Amendment May, is here. The constitution amendment is not posted yet.
