Buried in the second to last paragraph of Ms. Strassel's column is the fact that the EPA climate skeptic in question is, in fact, an economist (Ph.D., Economics, MIT, according to his EPA bio), not a climate scientist. Why are we listening to this guy?

"Why are we listening to this guy?". I agree. The arguments of this economist should not be permitted to see the light of day. He is arguing against the Party's position, er, rather the scientific consensus.

You would have to ask an administrative lawyer, but I think it's legally dubious to try to cook the record in this way when a federal administrative agency is considering making a rule. Also, EPA is full of people who are not PhD's in climate related sciences who have all sorts of input. The problem is if input is being filtered according to what view it supports.
