Maybe it takes one to know one. Probably the reason why this scandal doesn't have very big legs is that the idea that a crazed state policeman has it in for your family, enough to threaten to kill people, is something most people can understand as justifying some pretty stern protective measures. I mean, what the heck is going on here that a state policeman can make threats like this and not be fired very promptly? And to make threats like this directed against the family of the governor of the state? If threats like this had been directed by a Chicago cop at Obama's family, he would not be fired either. He'd be underneath a recently paved Chicago parking lot, or sleeping with the fishes in Lake Michigan. And we could rely on the MSM to say very little about it. Palin was "obsessed"? Are you kidding? My evil neighbor threatened to get Animal Control on my dogs (in retaliation for my reporting his illegal construction project to the county, who shut it down; long story. And my dogs are perfectly legal, well behaved and noble) and I could think of little else for weeks. A threat to kill a family member would obsess the most reasonable person, especially if the threat comes from a crazy person who carries a gun and has some power of the police behind him.
At least no-one tried the old "he looked like a moose to me, officer" defence.

This matter needs to be referred to Bill Clinton for his deep experience in state trooper ethics.

If you didn't know any better, you might think that this was an issue of due process.
