Very bad situation on K2 Tom Smith

This is a very bad situation on the world's most difficult mountain, K2.  K2 is as high as Everest, except for a few hundred feet, and much, much more difficult to climb.  Anybody in very strong physical condition and with $60K can climb Everest, but only a world class climber can get up K2.

Reports suggest as many as 9 climbers died when an ice pillar collapsed and as many as a dozen more may be trapped above 8000m because their fixed ropes where swept away by the avalanche.  Getting down without the ropes may be impossible.
