Yahoo!! Tom Smith

For me, this is more fun and exciting than the Superbowl -- Microsoft makes a play for Yahoo.  This will be great.  If I teach M&A next year, it should be wonderful grist for the mill.  At least I will enjoy it.

I am very skeptical that Microsoft can absorb Yahoo in anything like a way that would make them a serious threat to Google, but at least some people at Google must be wondering.  No doubt messages have been left on Page and Brin's phones and within days, they will know about this development as well.

There are many intriguing aspects of this proposed deal, but the most hilarious is the prospect of Microsoftgessellschaft bidding for a company with a Chief Yahoo.  This is like the Borg versus the Tribbles.
