Scuba diving for lawyers
Tom Smith
I did this diving class that Will Patridge organized for USD law students and related others (e.g. me) last year, and it was a blast. The instruction was mellow yet rigorous. The diving was fun. Highly recommended.
The USD Tort-Tugas are once again hosting a basic SCUBA
diving class, just in time for students to earn their SCUBA
certification for Spring Break. SCUBA certification consists in an
orientation at the dive shop, an academic module at USD, two half-days
of pool training at the USD pool, and two half-days of diving in La
Jolla. Students will earn a PADI Open Water SCUBA certification, which
qualifies them to rent dive gear and dive with dive shops around the
world. The cost of instruction is $195.00, plus $50 for books and
other academic materials. Students will provide their own mask, fins
and snorkel; those items may be purchased during the orientation if
desired.
The tentative schedule is as follows:
Saturday, February 23 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM: Orientation at OEX, 2158 Avenida de la Playa, La Jolla, CA 92037
Sunday, February 24 from 9:00 AM to 4:00PM: Academic module and first day of pool diving at USD
Saturday, March 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Finish pool instruction at USD
Sunday, March 2 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: First day of ocean diving at OEX
Saturday, March 8 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Finish ocean diving at La Jolla, take pictures for certification cards, and high-five your fellow divers.
To reserve a spot in the class, interested students should make out a check for $50, payable to "Ocean Enterprises Express," and place it in the student mailbox for Will Partridge. Please feel free to contact Will Partridge with any questions at will.partridge@gmail.com, or 858.243.0064."
Welcome to the wonderful world of diving!
As they say, "Divers do it deeper."
