Ignore Obama Tom Smith

I'm not sure I follow this post by Eugene entirely.  I do think that Obama has stopped wearing a flag pin in order to try to cozy up the the Democratic left.  Pretty appalling.  It's too bad there isn't some way to import Mexicans who want to be Americans and export Americans who want to be Canadians or whatever.  I don't know that many Mexican-Americans, but ones I do know are better Americans than most, say, academics.  They would have no problem putting American flags on their cars (or pickups in my neighborhood) or joining the Marines, for that matter. 

But no flag decal on Obama's limo, I bet.  I proudly sport a US Special Operations Command decal on my Suburban, given to me by a former student, former SEAL who worked there.  Just my way of saying discretely, I [heart] killing terrorists.  Or here in San Diego, this flag decal speaks loud and clear, and has a neat history too.  I see a number of them around in this Navy town.

I'm not sure from Eugene's post if he is making an analogy from Obama to men who don't tell their wives they love them, or if Obama said he doesn't do that either.  But either way, these men are idiots.  If your lady doesn't want to hear you love her, your lady is looking to lose you.  This is an opportunity for you to look for cuter and more affectionate.  True, actions speak louder than words.  But this, she knows I love her; I bought her that new set of tools! is prime male idiocy.  You can paint the kitchen or whatever, and say you love her, but you might as well be clear about it. 

BTW this is the classic American approach as well.  Not a lot of people know that the Puritans were a very uxorious bunch, always writing steamy letters to each other.  The thing was, you had to be married.  But if you were, go to it.  That was the way.  So be a real American.  Tell your wife you love her.  It works for husbands too.
