We live in Boulevard, 1/4 Mile from the Border.....3 miles south of I-8, 48 miles east of El Cajon. At 3:30 the air turned grey and smokey.....We are 15 miles east of campo. Is it possible that We, in Boulevard may not be in the clear?? Lotsa chaparral between us and this monster that is all real good fuel.

When you do finally get home, Tom, do yourself a favor and cut down those pine trees. The Rancho Santa Fe Fire Prot. District has some excellent recommendations about plants and trees. The communities that followed their advice re: shelter-in-place survived the Witch Creek Fire unscathed while those around them went up in flames. You can't do much about your neighbors but you can do something about your own property. Best of luck to you & yours.
