Firewatch
Tom Smith

The family unit and I are camped out in a seedy motel in La Mesa, having been evacuated from our lovely home.  It's going to be too close for comfort.  It already is.  But many in SD have lost their homes already.

My older brother, a former volunteer fireman, talked me out of standing and fighting the fires, with talk of third degree burns and burn units.

Then a deputized sheriff lady showed up in my drive way and basically ordered us to leave.  A funny, and unpleasant feeling.

We could see flames in addition to the towers of smoke on the way out.  I think it is moving away from us, but it is going to be close no matter what.

The precise analysis of the actual location of the Harris Fire appears to be here.

Best of luck to you and yours. Keep us updated.

For those of us living in the San Diego area, http://www.cbs8.com/ seems to be doing a good job with frequent updates.

Stay safe.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Good luck. Chin up.

Best of luck. I used to live in Scripps Ranch as a child, and am familiar with the Fall Santa Ana fires. It was always disconcerting, but never of immediate threat. Our old house was just missed in '03. Every block surrounding was burned to the ground.

Hope you fair well. Keep us posted.

Good luck, Tom. Let me know if you & yours need a place to stay.

I've been getting my information either through KGB, 10News, or Sign on San Diego. News taint good regardless.

Last bit of news I got on chanel 10 was a flare up in the Harris Fire area. Even areas that have been burned over still have fuel left.

Speaking of the Harris Fire; there is a possibility that the north-western edge of the fire could head north towards you, so be prepared for secondary evacuation.
