Very interesting article from Italian Catholic site on background to Pope's comments and Vatican relations with Turkey.
As some commentators on this site have pointed out, Benedict really was making a deep criticism of at least some versions of Islam and probably of Protestantism as well -- the idea that God's will however irrational it may seem, is the source of all morality. Count me in the party of reason.

Christianity, in its purest traditional, orthodox Reformation form, is perfectly reasonable. It isn't entirely verifiable in the sense of modern scientific reproducable result experiments. But it is very reasonable.
